Prof. Shin from Seoul National University, Korea visited CCMg

On March 16-17, 2023, at the invitation of Professor Pan Fusheng, Professor Kwang Seon Shin of Seoul National University visited CCMg. Professor Pan Fusheng is the academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, chairman of the International Mg Society, chairman of the Chongqing Science and Technology Association, vice chairman of the Chinese Materials Research Society, and honorary director of the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys (CCMg). Professor Kwang Seon Shin is Member of National Academy of Engineering of Korea, former chairman of Korean Society for Metals and Materials.
On the morning of March 17, Professor Shin gave a lecture on the theme of advanced materials as a part of a series lectures of G-Seminar. The lecture was jointly held by International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Chongqing University, the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University and CCMg. An academic report titled "Development of High-Performance Magnesium Alloys" was made in Room 319 of CCMg, Chongqing University. The report was Chaired by Professor Zhang Dingfei, director of CCMg. More than 40 teachers and graduate students from the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University attended the meeting. Professor Shin is the first offline lecture among more than 100 lectures held by 15 colleges since the launch of G-Seminar.
Professor Chen Houwen, deputy dean of the College of Materials Science and Engineering of Chongqing University, delivered a welcome speech, expressing a warm welcome to Professor Shin's arrival, and looked forward to his support for the development of the Center of Chongqing University. In the report, Professor Shin gave a detailed report of the latest research progress on the deformation mechanism of magnesium single crystals, the development status of the new twin-roll casting and rolling technology, and introduced the application of magnesium alloy twin-roll casting and rolling sheets in automobiles and other fields. These research results were important to the development and application of magnesium alloys. Professor Shin's high-level academic report aroused the strong interest and eager attention of the participating teachers and students. The academic activity ended successfully with a burst of applause.
Professor Kwang Seon Shin is an internationally renowned senior expert in the field of magnesium alloy. He was served the chairman of the Korea Magnesium Technology Research Association, the director of the Magnesium Technology Innovation Center at Seoul National University, the chairman of the Korean Society for Metals and Materials, and the chairman of the 10th International Conference on Magnesium Alloys and Applications. He has presented more than 100 conference reports and invited reports at international conferences. Specializes in the development, preparation, processing, and performance research of advanced structural materials such as magnesium alloys, aluminum alloys, and copper alloys. He has deep understood on development of the high-strength and tough magnesium alloys, high-ductility magnesium alloys, and also on magnesium alloy casting, plate processing, and characterization of the material structure and performance.
