OnNovember 11th, the inauguration ceremony of Mingyue Lake Laboratory and the induction of newly introduced expert teams was held in Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing, China.
Attendees included Lin Luo, Member of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of Liangjiang New Area; Professor Shuxin Wang, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and President of Chongqing University; and Professor Fusheng Pan, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Chairman of the Chongqing Association for Science and Technology, and President of the Chongqing Institute of New Energy Storage Materials and Equipment. Other participants included Professor Zhiwei Shan, Vice President of Xi’an Jiaotong University; Professor Jian Li, Vice President of Chongqing University and leaders from Liangjiang New Area, Chongqing.
Inhis speech, Lin Luo emphasized that technological innovation drives the emergence of new industries, new models, and new momentum, serving as the core element in developing new quality productive forces. He expressed hopes that Mingyue Lake Laboratory would take this inauguration as a new starting point, accelerate the cultivation of new quality productive forces, enhance innovation capacity, strengthen transformation of achievements, and attract top talent, thereby building “Mingyue Lake” into a new landmark of science and innovation in Chongqing. He reaffirmed Liangjiang New Area’s firm support for the laboratory, pledging to optimize institutional mechanisms, strengthen the integration of science, finance, and talent, improve the efficiency of innovation investment, and build a science–industry incubation system. He also expressed hopes for municipal departments, including the Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, will continue to strengthen policy support and resource allocation for Mingyue Lake Laboratory, promoting the accelerated gathering of innovation factors and high-end talent. It is also earnestly hoped that Chongqing University will leverage its disciplinary strengths and increase investment efforts to jointly propel Mingyue Lake Laboratory to new heights and yield outstanding achievements.
In his remarks, President Shuxin Wang stated that looking ahead, Chongqing University will work closely with Liangjiang New Area, under the guidance of the municipal government and relevant departments, to fully support the laboratory’s construction and development. He encouraged Mingyue Lake Laboratory would take the inauguration as an opportunity to further clarify its development positioning and direction, innovate institutional mechanisms, strengthen multi-party collaboration, and actively promote the deep integration of innovation, industrial, capital, and talent chains. The goal is to build the laboratory into a core force supporting and driving Chongqing’s high-quality development, and to establish it as a national-level sci-tech innovation and talent hub that is domestically leading and internationally renowned. He also urged the lab to make greater contributions in serving the nation’s pursuit of high-level sci-tech self-reliance and strength.
Professor Fusheng Pan introduced the development of the laboratory, noting its focus on next-generation disruptive energy storage materials, high-performance lightweight materials, intelligent new materials, and materials informatics and design. The laboratory aims to integrate domestic and international scientific resources, attract top-tier talent, and establish itself as an international leader in materials innovation, talent cultivation, and industrialization.
Atthe ceremony, Lin Luo, Shuxin Wang, and Fusheng Pan jointly unveiled the plaque for Mingyue Lake Laboratory. In addition, plaques were awarded to four newly recruited academician teams, ten expert teams, and eight chief experts.
On behalf of the laboratory, Professor Jingfeng Wang, Party Secretary of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Chongqing University and Executive Dean of the Institute of New Energy Storage Materials and Equipment, signed cooperation agreements with eight enterprises, including Chilwee, Baowu Magnesium, Chinalco Advanced Manufacturing Co., Lyd., State Grid Chongqing Electric Power, Chongqing Airport Group Co.,Ltd., EONTEC, Thumb Group, and Huachu Yuke.
Officials from the Municipal Development and Reform Commission and Municipal Finance Bureau, leaders from Chongqing University, relevant departments of Liangjiang New Area, as well as local enterprises and research institutions also participated.
