On December 7, 2024, Chongqing Materials Society held the 6th Meeting of the 4th Council and the 2024 Member Representative Assembly at Chongqing Parkside Hotel. More than 210 experts and scholars in the materials field from Chongqing Municipality attended the meeting, which was presided over by Professor Xiaodong Peng, Chairman of the Council of Chongqing Materials Society, and Professor Weidong Xie, Executive Director of the Society. Professor Fusheng Pan, Chairman of Chongqing Association for Science and Technology and Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. He affirmed the important contributions of Chongqing Materials Society in promoting the progress of materials science and technology and social development in Chongqing, and outlined expectations for the Society's future development in academic exchanges, science popularization, think tank construction, scientific and technological innovation, and other aspects.
At the 6th Meeting of the 4th Council, Professor Yu'an Chen, Secretary-General of the Council, delivered the work report of the Council, which comprehensively summarized the Society's achievements in promoting academic exchanges, fostering innovation, and advancing industry-university-research collaboration over the past six years. Subsequently, Academician Fusheng Pan presented certificates of honor to the representative directors of the outgoing 4th Council.
At the Member Representative Assembly, the 5th Council of Chongqing Materials Society, composed of 95 experts and scholars, was elected in a democratic, open and fair manner. These newly elected council members will bring renewed vitality into the Society and undertake the task of promoting the development of materials science and technology in Chongqing.
At the first meeting of the 5th Council, one Chairman and nine Vice Chairmen of the Council were elected. Xianhua Chen from Chongqing University was elected as Chairman of the Council; Xiang Li from Chinalco Advanced Manufacturing Co., Ltd., Xun Du from Chongqing Polycomp International Corporation, Jing Zhang from the National Engineering Research Center for Magnesium Alloys, Haiding Liu from Chongqing Materials Research Institute Co.,Ltd., Dalong Cong from China Ordnance Industry No. 59 Research Institute , Zhongchang Wang from Southwest University, Xiaoyuan Zhou from Chongqing Institute of New Energy Storage Materials and Equipment, Chaolong Yang from Chongqing University of Technology, and Chaozhong Guo from Chongqing University of Arts and Sciences were elected as Vice Chairmen of the Council. The Council nominated Jun Tan from Chongqing University as Secretary-General and Shengfeng Guo from Southwest University as Deputy Secretary-General. Academician Fusheng Pan presented letters of appointment to the leaders of the 5th Council. Finally, Professor Xianhua Chen, the newly elected Chairman, delivered remarks at the meeting. He thanked Academician Pan for his support, guidance and outstanding contributions to the Society's work, expressed sincere gratitude to the council members and members for their trust in him, extended high recognition and heartfelt thanks to the previous Council for its work, envisioned the Society's future development direction and key work priorities, and put forward specific work plans and measures.
This conference not only reviewed the work achievements of the past, but also laid a solid foundation for the future development of the Society, marking that Chongqing Materials Society has taken a new step forward on the path of promoting continuous innovation and breakthroughs in materials science, technology and industry in Chongqing.
